Condition Guide

The overall condition of a pair of Vans shoes figures greatly

in determining the value. There are many factors involved here

and we will name most of them. Be advised that collectors can be

very picky or very lenient when it comes to overall condition.

This is not an exact science but we feel we’ve made it

quite clear what the parameters are.

 ************************************************************************

Shoes: All of the values in

VC price guide are based on 100% Mint.

100% Mint: A perfect, mint pair of rare vans would

(and should) fetch a premium and we are not surprised

to see values as much as 25% higher than our price guide or more. This pair is flawless and factory fresh with

original box, tissue, tags, etc.

NIB: New in Box. Shoes must be new, clean, fresh and

unworn in original box. A bonus would include all accessories

such as tissue, tags, extra laces, etc. Shoes cannot show any

signs of wear whatsoever. No rips, tears, stains or color fading.

Deadstock: Sellers frequently use the term “deadstock”

to describe new, unworn shoes no longer being manufactured. Basically the same as NIB.

Worn: This category we leave up to the collector.

Some shoes have been worn once or twice but still exhibit

the fresh clean look of a new shoe and include the original box.

Some pairs are well worn without original box. Seller should be

very clear about defects caused by wearing the shoes.

The better the description, the better a buyer can make

a decision on the value.

   ************************************************************************

Box: Our price guide is based on the original box that the shoes came in. Box should have strong visual shape and can withstand

a few boxes stacked on top. Box can have minor creasing and

small stress tears at the corners but overall show few signs of damage. A mint box would increase value. A badly damaged box would decrease value. Again, the box can be subjective and we

leave it’s grading to the collector.
